petra cerne oven graduated at the academy of fine arts & design in ljubljana (slovenia) and has been working for clients, such as slovenian ministry of culture, cultural heritage office of the republic of slovenia, holding of the city of ljubljana, post of slovenia, bank of slovenia, red cross and others. for her work she has won design prizes including the typographic excellence award from the type directors club of new york.

after receiving an ma from the department of typography & graphic communication at the university of reading (uk) in 1998, she was awarded a phd at the same department in 2004 for her thesis titled „the development of special characters in slavonic languages: with emphasis on the orthographic reforms in slovenian and croatian language”.

petra presents regularly at international conferences and has amongst others published in eye, 2+3d, hyphen, emzin, klik, marketing magazin, oris, ampak, art.si and delo. she currently works with paul stiff on a research project „the optimism of modernity” at the department of typography & graphic communication at reading university.
