zwei jahre später war ich auf einem kleinen buchmarkt in amsterdam. ich konnte nicht widerstehen und kaufte eine serie von sechs büchern aus dem jahr 1743 gesetzt in einer schrift des französischen typo graphen pierre simon fourier, eines meiner typographischen idole. ich fühlte mich sofort wieder in dieser welt handgeschöpften papiers, handgeschnittener schriften und handgebundener bücher heimisch. das soll die beiden welten erklären, in denen ich lebe; aber es gibt noch andere welten …
martin majoor
begann 1988 schriften zu entwerfen und schuf scala sowie scala sans, die von fontshop international als die ersten seriösen text-schriften in der fontfont library veröffentlicht wurden. scala und scala sans gehorchen den selben formprinzipien, sind aber unterschiedliche entwürfe. seine dritte große schriftfamilie, ff seria, wurden vielfach ausgezeichnet. 2006/07 arbeitetet majoor mit pascal zoghbi, der sada, das arabische pendant zu seria, entwarf. schließlich war ff nexus dann eine der ersten opentype schriften von fontshop.
majoor lehrte typographie an verschiedenen kunstschulen und schrieb artikel für magazine wie items, 2+3d und eye.

started designing fonts 1988 creating scala and scala sans that were published by fontshop international as the first serious text face in the fontfont library. scala and scala sans follow the same principle of form but are two distinct designs. His third major typefamily, ff seria was awarded by the istd and by the atypi type design competition ›bukva:raz!‹. in 2006/07 majoor worked together with pascal zoghbi, who designed sada, the arabic counterpart for seria. ff nexus was one of fontshops first opentype fonts and two years later it won the first prize at the creative review type sesign awards 2006, in the catagory text families.
majoor taught typography at several schools of arts, gave lectures at many conferences and wrote articles for magazines like items, 2+3d and eye. he works in both the netherlands and poland.
