dan rhatigan is one of monotype's type directors, based in new york city. he worked as a designer and typographer for 15 years in boston and new york before moving to england in 2006 for graduate school at the university of reading. after receiving his ma in typeface design, he joined monotype in the uk to research and design non-latin typeface families. now as a type director looking after work in europe and the united states, dan works on custom type development projects and consults on typographic issues, and from time to time he gives talks about history, type, and typography. over the years, he has also taught graphic design, typography, and branding. dan holds a bfa degree in graphic design from boston university, and a ma in typeface design from the university of reading in the united kingdom.
